ACADEMICS

At St. John’s, academics are anchored in the ICSE curriculum, known for its balanced emphasis on conceptual understanding, analytical skills, and language proficiency. This framework equips students with both depth of knowledge and versatility in learning.

To support and enrich this curriculum, several practices run consistently through every stage of schooling.

  • Smart Classrooms that integrate technology into everyday learning.

  • Chapter Review Tests conducted across subjects at the end of every chapter to ensure clarity and retention.

  • Remedial Classes after school hours for 30 minutes each day to reinforce learning.

  • Special Remedial Support for students who require more personalised guidance.

  • STEM Classes that connect theoretical knowledge with hands-on practical application.

  • Vocabulary enhancement programme that enables students to learn one word a day on which they are tested consistently.

  • Handwriting Practice led by teachers trained by handwriting experts, strengthening the foundations of written communication.

These practices together ensure continuity, support, and academic rigor from the earliest years through ISC.

At St. John’s, we believe excellence deserves recognition. To motivate students and celebrate their hard work, we have instituted Academic Achievers’ Awards based on the cumulative performance of the year.

  • The Overall Grade Topper is honoured with a trophy and certificate.

  • Subject Toppers are recognised with a medal and certificate.

  • Students with 100 percent attendance receive a certificate of appreciation.

  • Students securing 90 percent and above are recognised with a certificate.

Along with annual awards, students are motivated throughout the year with Merit Cards. These are given to subject toppers in every grade for all subjects across unit tests, mid-term, and final examinations. Designed as collectible cards, they inspire healthy competition and encourage children to aim high across disciplines, not just in one area of strength.

This recognition system ensures that consistency, effort, and achievement are celebrated at every stage of the academic journey.

At St. John’s, we believe that exceptional teaching stems from continuous learning and development. Our faculty undergoes intensive training before the academic year, led both by in-house trainers and subject matter experts. These sessions cover a wide range of topics, from effective questioning techniques and teaching strategies to closing learning gaps and implementing positive discipline in the classroom.

Our Management Facilitator regularly conducts sessions on tried-and-tested pedagogical methods, ensuring that teachers are equipped to deliver lessons that are engaging, structured, and impactful. In addition, all our teaching staff have received specialized handwriting training from an expert, enabling them to guide students in developing neat and legible writing skills from an early age.

By investing in our educators, we ensure that every student benefits from skilled, knowledgeable, and well-prepared teachers, creating an environment where learning is meaningful, comprehensive, and tailored to each child’s growth.
